Afternoon tea at YEN Bar in W Taipei is a treat that we’ve come to look forward to during our visits to Taipei. Although Taiwan is known for its diversity of iconic dishes and an incredible night market scene, afternoon tea at YEN Bar is something special. They’ve managed to take an experience that’s — excuse the pun — steeped in tradition, and update it with some fresh and creative ideas.

Located on the 31st floor of the hotel, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the city and one of the best photo ops with Taipei 101, all in a chic, modern, and very purple space (that turns into a buzzing lounge after tea time is done).

Every couple months, YEN Bar updates the theme of their afternoon tea — and we don’t mean that they just swap out a graphic. They develop an entirely new menu of savoury & sweet dishes and cocktails based on some pretty creative themes, so you’ll rarely have the same experience twice.

Their latest collaboration with British luxury brand Wedgwood takes the staples of Cantonese cuisine and fuses them with floral flavours and opulent design themes for an experience they’re calling Flowery Yen. The result is something quite magical — a distraction from colder winter temperatures, and a reminder that spring is just around the corner!

Included in the price of afternoon tea are 2 cocktails and free-flow tea, selected from their menu of premium beverages.

The menu includes a fixed selection of savoury and sweet bites. They may look snack-sized, but don’t be fooled — each dish is rich and filling. It’s a lovely crash course in Cantonese cuisine with some decadent dim sum and desserts.
